SMAW is a manual arc welding process that uses a consumable flux-coated electrode, which burns off during welding to produce a shielding gas. It requires minimal setup, tolerates dirty material, and performs reliably outdoors in wind. SMAW is commonly used in structural steel, pipeline, construction, and field repair work.
Cost: $260.00
Material: Steel
Difficultly: Easy
Duration: 3 hours
GMAW is a semi-automatic process that feeds a continuous wire electrode through the welding torch while a shielding gas protects the weld pool. GMAW is commonly used in automotive work, fabrication shops, manufacturing, and sheet metal.
Cost: $290.00
Material: Steel
Difficulty: Hard
Duration: 3 hours
GTAW is a manual process that uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode to establish the arc, filler metal is then added manually, while shielding gas protects the weld pool. GTAW is commonly used in fabrication, thin-gauge work, tube and pipe welding, and projects where weld appearance matters.
